Potential Antiviral Effect of Cranberries Discovered
Independent research published in the scientific journal Phytomedicine has found that cranberry may display anti-viral properties. The researchers concluded that cranberry juice offers a non-specific anti-viral effect towards different viruses. The results of this novel study point to yet another potential health benefit of the North American super berry.

Ocean Spray Touts New Dental Health Research
Leading cranberry supplier Ocean Spray welcomes two new independent studies suggesting cranberry components with benefits in the prevention of dental and gum disease. The research is the latest in a line of studies that indicate the benefit of certain compounds found in cranberries to oral health. The studies suggest that cranberry’s unique A-type PACs (proanthocyanadins) may help prevent disease-causing bacteria, such as P. gingivalis and Streptococci from adhering in the mouth and causing infection. Recent research has cast new light on how cranberry proanthocyanidins (PACs) actively disable certain bacteria such as E. coli, preventing them from adhering to cells in the body where they could potentially cause infection. New Study Finds
That Cranberry May Help Fight Flu
As the winter months draw close, Ocean Spray ITG has welcomed
the results of a study that suggest the cranberry’s unique
compounds may help to ward off certain types of flu virus. Preliminary
laboratory research suggests that components found in North American
cranberries may play a role in preventing certain flu viruses from
attaching to host cells and preventing subsequent flu infections.
