Cranberry health benefits
Native Americans were the first to recognize the health benefits of the North American cranberry, Vaccinium macrocarpon. They used the berry to treat urinary disorders and care for wounds, fever and stomach complaints.
Since then scientific studies have discovered more about the cranberry's unique make up:
- Rich in polyphenols, proanthocyanidins (PACs), quercetin, vitamin C and fiber
- Unique A-linked PACs have an anti-adhesion mechanism. It is believed that certain PACs help prevent certain bacteria from clinging to the epithelial cell lining of the urinary tract and causing infection in the body
Decades of research suggest the cranberry may offer benefits for the whole body.
