This geographical diversity balances the natural variations inherent in any crop to ensure a stable fruit supply and consistent product quality.
The Ocean Spray cranberry harvest takes place from late September through November by either wet or dry method. The wet method involves flooding the cranberry bogs with water, which causes the berries to float to the surface and form a bright red carpet. These are then gently 'beaten' from the vine by water reels, corralled by booms and immediately transported to receiving stations for cleaning and grading.
A small percentage of the crop is dry harvested, or carefully combed from the vine, for sale as fresh cranberries.
